4 TIPS FOR THE PERFECT BRIDESMAIDS’ DRESSES

Updated: Oct 20, 2021

There are a million reasons you might want your bridesmaids to look really pretty. To begin with, they are your best friends and you want this to be a special day for them too – and, of course, looking beautiful will help with that. Even more though, your bridesmaids are “officials” of the wedding day – they mirror your style and your wedding theme in a beautiful way, while graciously helping you navigate the issues that might arise on the Big Day.

How do you choose the perfect bridesmaids’ dresses, though?

We have some tips for you – so read on and find out more.

· The length. This can be a really tricky topic for a lot of ladies, especially those who are on the shorter side. Long dresses tend to make smaller women look even smaller – and it obliges them to wearing heels that might be uncomfortably high. On the other hand, if you are planning a very formal and traditional wedding, short dresses (or even midi dresses) are not usually an option. Try to find a balance to make everyone happy!

· The cut. A-line bridesmaids’ dresses are among the most popular option there is – and it’s fair to say most body types look good in this. While mermaid cuts, sheath, and ballerina dresses might feel trendy and pretty, they are not always flattering for everyone – so it’s probably best to settle on a classic cut that will make your bridesmaids feel really comfortable.

· The neckline. This part of your bridesmaids’ dresses can influence the way they look so much! For instance, sweetheart dresses are usually considered to be universally flattering – but a high neckline is probably better for ladies with strong collarbones. Likewise, a V-neck is perfect for women who want to create a sense of narrowness around their shoulders and bust, but a one-shoulder dress is not a good option for ladies with heavier arms.

· Let them choose! There’s a very good reason mismatched bridesmaids’ dresses are so popular: they make it much easier for everyone. Pick a color (and maybe one other element, such as the length, the cut, or the neckline) and allow your bridesmaids to wear whatever type of dress they feel best in. Their smiles will thank you for it!
