What You Should Know About Giving Wedding Gifts to Your Parents

The etiquette rules to keep in mind when offering wedding gifts to your parents

What You Should Know About Giving Wedding Gifts to Your Parents

Your parents not only gave you birth – they raised you to be the amazing person you are today. The person your loved one fell in love with, the person your SO wants to spend the rest of their lives with.

Of course, you want to pamper your parents before your Colorado wedding – and offering nice gifts is a very nice gesture you can do. What is the etiquette connected to this, though? When exactly should you be offering the gifts? We have some tips for you – so read on and find out more.

  • The Rehearsal Dinner. This is one of the most popular times to offer the gifts (both to the parents of the bride and groom and to the other VIPs at the wedding). If you want to make sure the gifts make it back to the room in full safety and if you want to make sure you really get the time to do it peacefully, without all the chaos of the wedding day surrounding you, this is a really good timing.
  • The morning. Will you have a getting ready session? Ask your mom and dad to join, if not for the entire session, then at least for a few minutes. Sit down with them and thank them for the amazing parents they’ve always been. Offer them the gift. The entire moment will surely create a memory you will all remember for the years to come.
  • The actual wedding. If you think your wedding is very, very well planned and if you think you can find a few minutes to sit down with your parents and offer them the gifts, you can do it during the reception as well. However, keep in mind that your wedding ceremony and reception are bound to be quite chaotic no matter how much planning goes into them – so take this into consideration.
  • The morning brunch. Will your parents spend the night nearby after the wedding? If yes, take them out to a nice brunch and offer them the gifts then. It is perfectly appropriate to do this as well if you find it more suitable.
