YES, THERE’S WEDDING ETIQUETTE FOR SOCIAL MEDIA TOO!

Updated: Feb 13, 2020

Some may think wedding etiquette is fixed in time and space and that it hasn’t changed much in the last few decades. However, that’s not necessarily true. Sure, there are rules that don’t make much sense today (and its slowly becoming acceptable to not follow them) – and some rules have even gone out of the etiquette as well. At the same time, there are new rules coming into the wedding etiquette guide too – and a lot of them are related to the development of Internet and social media.

What are the new-age wedding etiquette tips you should be aware of? We have some tips for you – so read on and find out more.

· Making the big announcement. You might want to rush to Instagram as soon as you say “Yes” to that gorgeous ring on your finger – but think twice before you do that. You should first announce your closest friends and family members – after all, you don’t really want that classmate you haven’t spoken to in 10 years to find out before your own mom does, right?

· Planning the wedding. We know wedding planning can get downright frustrating and we know it can be really easy to just lash out on a Facebook status about the impossibility of finding those very special flowers you want for the Big Day. However, it might be better for you to be more retained, especially when it comes to the less positive side of planning a wedding. Keep this for discussions with your Maid of Honor and fiancé (without lashing out on them, of course), and away from the public eye on the social media.

· Creating a wedding hashtag. This is not absolutely necessary, but it’s a nice addition if you want to be able to easily collect all the pictures your guests will take at your wedding. Plus, it adds a dash of personality to your entire wedding and it can be fun for guests to tag themselves using a cute hashtag created especially for your wedding day.
